In Pool B, 2024 runners-up Western Province started strongly with a convincing 5-0 win over Free State with Malikah Hamza grabbing two goals, supported by strikes from Mbali Anthony, Tanya Pieterse, and Paige Thomas, as Province controlled proceedings from start to finish.

Hosts Northern Blues matched that result, beating Eastern Province 5-1 in the day’s final encounter, leading 5-0 before conceding a late goal to Kerri Kespay. The Blues were impressive with Emily Macquet scoring twice, and further goals from Elizabeth Porter, Anja Tromp, and Tiara Finnis completed the thrashing.

If Day 1 was all about setting the tone, Day 2 will be about tightening the grip with the chase for semi-final spots is officially on.
