No stopping KZN sides at Kearsney

KZN schools dominated the final day of the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival, while there were big wins for Rondebosch and Affies at KES.

Glenwood left Kearsney unbeaten after a five-try, 33-12 win against Dale. The Green Machine drew with Monument and beat Milnerton in their other matches.

DHS made it three wins from three with a 33-5 victory against Durbanville, with centres Zingce Simka (two) and Nathan Aneke (three) scoring their tries. Rustenburg and Monument were also defeated by the Durbanites.

Rustenburg fought back from 17-7 down at half time against Westville to level the scores at 17-17 with 10 minutes remaining. But the KZN school secured a third victory with a late try from flyhalf Luxolo Sononkonkono, having comfortably beaten Framesby and EG Jansen earlier in the festival.

Kearsney, who lost to EG Jansen on Thursday before beating Dale on Saturday, finished their festival with an eight-try, 48-8 thrashing of Zimbabwe’s Peterhouse.

At the KES Easter Rugby Festival, Rondebosch crossed the whitewash five times to blank Queen’s College 33-0, before lock Martin van Niekerk scored two of Affies’ eight tries in a 57-19 hammering of Selborne.

Noordheuwel pipped Jeppe 21-20 and KES were defeated 12-7 by Northwood.
