93% of IT leaders will implement AI agents in the next two years

Recent findings from MuleSoft and Deloitte Digital have revealed that a staggering 93% of IT leaders plan to incorporate AI agents into their operations within the next two years. This move marks a significant shift toward digital labor, promising enhanced productivity and greater value delivery across various business sectors. Notably, nearly half of these organizations have already begun implementing AI agents. The initiative is fueled by the anticipation of increased developer productivity over the next three years. In fact, this projection has climbed by seven percentage points compared to last year. Further insights from the 2025 Connectivity Benchmark Report highlight that the average number of AI models deployed for agent adoption has jumped from 9 to 18 in just one year, with expectations to reach 32 models over the next three years. Despite this forward momentum, integration remains a critical hurdle. An overwhelming 95% of IT leaders identify integration challenges as a significant barrier, particularly when trying to merge AI with current processes. Siloed data continues to strain resources, as a mere 10% of respondents encounter no issues from data silos, while 74% believe their IT systems are overly interdependent. The challenge of data mobility stands out as the primary integration obstacle. Amidst these challenges, the demand for automation is clear, with 98% expressing a need for it in their organizations. Automation strategies now empower non-technical users with low-code solutions, signaling a shift in operational capabilities. As organizations continue to develop these strategies, the importance of robust data management and agile integration frameworks becomes even more critical to harness AI’s potential fully.
