FIVE WAYS TO SAVE ELECTRICITY

Tired of paying a lot of bills for electricity? Here are five ways to save electricity and lower your bills.

1.CONTROL YOUR THERMOSTAT BOTH IN WINTER AND SUMMER:

In winter, make sure to keep your thermostat off the room heater at 68°F during daytime and lower at night. If you want to keep warm, you can put on more clothes.

In summer, set the thermostat at a higher level. Keep it at 78°F when you are at home and when away, turn off the air conditioner, according to One Energy System.

2. UNPLUG ELECTRONIC DEVICES WHEN NOT IN USE

When you are not using any electronics/electric devices such as chargers, switches or geysers, unplug them. This can save electricity as devices on standby consume power.

3. HAVE ENERGY-EFFICIENT POWER STRIPS

Energy-efficient power strips prevent power wastage when devices are turned off. According to Energy Theory, instead of using your normal power strips, opt for energy-efficient ones as they reduce energy consumption.

4. LIMIT USE OF VIDEO GAMES

Video games consume a lot of electricity as the TV is kept on for hours. Rather, encourage more outdoor games for your children as this creates physical activity and naturally bonding time.

5. USE LED LIGHT BULBS

According to The Citizen, using LED light bulbs is known to be more energy efficient as they give off light, last longer and help in reducing the cost of your electric bill.
