🚨 Patrick Vieira appointed Senegal head coach

The return to his roots is confirmed.

Patrick Vieira, a native of Dakar, is the new head coach of the Senegal national team. The former France midfielder was officially appointed this Tuesday, while the dismissal process of Pape Thiaw still drags on in the background.

In its brief statement, the Senegalese Football Federation specifies that “the date of the official presentation and the next steps of his appointment will be the subject of a later announcement.”

The length of his contract has not been officially disclosed.

Vieira’s first challenge will be to lead the Lions of Teranga to qualification for the next 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The qualifiers will begin as early as September.
