Top Player – Algeria

Yacine Brahimi, captain of the “Greens”, was one of the players with the best performance in his local league and with high performances in the national team. In his club, Al-Gharafa of Qatar, he plays as a left winger, but in Algeria he is usually an attacking midfielder. In his last three games he scored three goals and two assists, while, counting only his country, he has one goal and two assists in three appearances.

June 10, 2024 10:40 AM ET

Top player – Uganda

Muhammada Shaban, a 26-year-old center forward, was one of the most decisive players for the “Cranes” despite not being a starter in Uganda. The attacker for local league side Kampala City scored two of his team’s last three goals. In Thursday’s match against Botswana he scored the goal that gave his team the three points. It remains to be seen if, with his current form, he continues to be an alternative or if he has earned his place in the starting 11.

June 10, 2024 10:35 AM ET

Algeria dominates the short history

In history, the two African countries have met only twice, both times with the “Greens” winning, giving them the upper hand in the head-to-head record. In total, Algeria scored four goals, while Uganda scored only one goal.

Algeria’s present

The “Greens” had the first three matches in reverse as they beat Somalia 3-1 and Mozambique 2-0, but lost to Guinea on Thursday. In all competitions, Algeria won ten times, drew six times and lost only two of their last 18 matches.

The present of Uganda

The current situation of the “Cranes” is not the best compared to the last matches, but talking about the African qualifiers, it is quite regular. Uganda is in Group G along with their opponents on Monday, Guinea, Mozambique, Botswana and Somalia. The peculiarity of this zone is that four of the six countries have two victories and one defeat, which leaves them at the top. Mozambique won 1-0 against Botswana, defeated Somalia 2-1 and lost in the first match against Guinea.
