Three candidates have been nominated for the by-election in North East St. Ann on September 30.

The PNP has decided to boycott the by-election.
Daina Davy has more in this report…
The governing JLP has held the seat since March 2001.
On Wednesday, nominations took place at the constituency’s office of the Returning Officer in St. Ann’s Bay.
The proceedings ended at 2 this afternoon.
All individuals wishing to contest the election were required to pay 15-thousand Jamaican dollars and complete a nomination form signed by ten or more electors registered to vote in the constituency.
The JLP’s Matthew Samuda says he’s looking forward to victory.
Independent candidate David Anderson, who’s also known as ‘Five Pound’, was nominated shortly before noon.
He entered the nomination centre flanked by 10 people.
Anderson expressed confidence at his prospects of winning the by-election.
Meanwhile, Chase Neil of UIC faced an initial setback at the start of Wednesday’s proceedings.
He lacked the support of the 10 registered voters from the constituency needed to complete the nomination process.
However, with only minutes left in the polling period, Neil was able to secure his spot.
Speaking with our news team, Neil says he’s ready for the job.
