TAJ warns public against online scams and fraudulent websites |

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is urging the public to exercise caution when conducting business online and to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes designed to obtain personal information or payments through illegitimate channels.

TAJ says it was moved to issue the advisory following a recent scam attempt involving a fake website falsely claiming to facilitate the payment of traffic ticket fines, as well as another effort to mislead customers during the Income Tax filing period.

It is emphasising that its official website is jamaicatax.gov.jm and is urging customers to ensure they are accessing that address directly when conducting any online transaction with the organisation.

The tax authority sought to reassure customers that its online services are delivered through a secure platform that incorporates several layers of security to protect taxpayer and customer information.

According to TAJ, these safeguards are designed to ensure that sensitive data and financial transactions remain protected when customers access services through the official website.

Customers are being strongly encouraged to verify website addresses before clicking on links or entering personal information online.

TAJ is also reminding the public that it does not send links via email or SMS messages directing customers to make payments, submit sensitive information, or access online services.

The agency said all online transactions should be conducted securely by visiting its official website and navigating directly to the required service.

Members of the public who encounter suspicious messages, websites or communications purporting to be from TAJ are being urged not to engage with them and to report the matter immediately.

The authority further advised that customers who are uncertain about the legitimacy of any communication should verify the information directly with the TAJ Customer Care Centre before making any payment or providing personal information.
