Parents of students at Braeton Primary and Infant School in Portmore, St. Catherine reacted with horror to Thursday’s abduction and attempted murder of an eight-year-old student at the institution.
The girl had her throat slashed by her abductor, who then left her for dead on Roosevelt Avenue in St. Andrew.
She was found by a member of the Jamaica Defence Force who rushed her to the nearby Bustamante Hospital for Children.
Amid wild speculation about the possible motive behind this grisly attack, Nationwide News has been reliably informed that the minor is the daughter of a police corporal.

The gloomy weather exacerbated the sombre mood at the institution. Classes were dismissed early and parents were called in to pickup their children.
One after the other expressed shock and disbelief.
A parent who chose not to give her name says security arrangements at the school have always been effective.
There were no visible signs of CCTV cameras on the school compound.
The parent is encouraging other parents to make adequate pick-up arrangements for their children after dismissal.
Its understood the grade two student was resuscitated, intubated and immediately taken to the operating theatre.
Surgeons reportedly repaired her damaged trachea, both interior jugular veins and her thyroid gland.
She remains in critical condition.
An appeal for donations to the National Blood Bank has been made on her behalf.
