Senegal FA Clarifies Viral Airport Security Check Ahead of 2026 World Cup

The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has issued an official statement to clarify a viral video showing members of the national team undergoing a security check at an airport in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the federation, the incident took place on June 7 in Raleigh, North Carolina, during the team’s boarding process for a private flight to San Antonio, Texas. The FSF stressed that the screening did not occur after the team’s arrival, contrary to claims circulating on social media.

The federation explained that the team bus transported players and staff directly from their hotel to the airport tarmac. This logistical arrangement allowed the entire delegation to complete security and police checks beside the aircraft, without passing through the airport’s public terminals or boarding areas.

FSF added that the procedure was designed to save time and facilitate boarding before the flight to San Antonio.

The statement also emphasized that all security measures were conducted in full compliance with airport regulations and that no incidents were reported during the process.

Finally, the federation confirmed that the private flight from Raleigh to San Antonio took place under normal conditions and that the entire Senegal delegation arrived safely at its destination.
