Russia-Mali: Africa Corps accused of dropping cluster bombs on civilians

Cluster munitions have left at least one person dead and three injured in the Kidal region. This marks the first time since the conflict began in 2012 that the Malian army and its auxiliaries have deployed these banned weapons.

During the night of 16-17 May, residents of the hamlet of Tadjmart, in northern Mali’s Kidal region, witnessed hundreds of fruit-sized metal spheres raining down from the sky, exploding on contact with the ground and houses, killing a child and injuring three women.
