Former Richmond Hill High School basketball standout Jeremiah Hill is hoping to hit the hardwood at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.Hill, a member of the Cameroon men’s national team, currently helping his squad at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Latvia.Hill had 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in Cameroon’s latest win, a 77-74 victory over Brazil on Thursday. Hill was 6 of 13 from beyond the three point line in the game.”We showed ourselves, we played with pace,” said Hill. “When we do that, we’re really hard to beat.”Hill’s strong showing against Brazil coming just one day after he dropped a double-double of 10 points and 10 assists against Montenegro. With their win over Brazil, Cameroon qualified as the second best team in Group B and will face the Latvian hosts in the semi-finals on Saturday.The 2024 FIBA men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments run from July 2-7 in Greece, Latvia, Puerto Rico and Spain.The winners in each location will qualify for the Paris Olympic Games.Eight teams have already qualified for the Olympic Games : France, USA, Canada, Australia, South Sudan, Japan, Serbia and Germany.Jeremiah Hill’s basketball journey has taken him around the world.After a stellar high school career at Richmond Hill, Hill would attend Savannah State before transferring to Valdosta State. He was named NCAA Division II All-American as a senior at VSU.As a professional, Hill was first a member of the Jacksonville Giants of the American Basketball Association. He then went on to play for the Orlando Magic’s G-League squad. He would then take his talents overseas, playing for several professional teams in Kazakhstan, Spain and Russia.
