ZIM vs IND 1st T20: India were bowled out for 102 in a chase of 116. AFP
Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi said the lack of partnerships resulted in a defeat for Men in Blue against an inexperienced Zimbabwe in the first T20I on Saturday. Team India, who are made up of inexperienced players themselves with seniors being rested after the T20 World Cup win, were bowled out for 102 in the 166-run chase.

“It was a good game of cricket, but we collapsed, lost continuous wickets. A partnership would have made the game better for us. We could not do that. I think that made the difference,” said Bishnoi in the post-match press meet. “Zimbabwe’s bowling and fielding were really good. They did not allow us to build partnerships.”
India will have a chance to bounce back immediately with the second T20I of the five-match series scheduled for Sunday. Bishnoi said the Indian cricket team needs to turn with a “fresh mind” for the second T20I on Sunday and must not carry the baggage of defeat in the first match.
“We are trying our best and we need to bounce back stronger. We just need to come back tomorrow (Sunday) with a fresh mind for the second match,” said Bishnoi.

The 23-year-old leg-spinner, however, had a good game, taking a career-best 4/13 against Zimbabwe.
“We can learn something from every match. I am trying to learn from every match and get better at what I am doing,” he said.
Bishnoi added that youngsters need to step up for India after the retirement of veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja.
“It’s time for new players. The senior players are retired and handed over the mantle to us. It’s our responsibility to take the flight ahead.”
Bishnoi also praised stand-in captain Shubman Gill’s decision-making skills.
“Shubman’s captaincy is very good. His bowling changes were spot on, it’s a sign of good captaincy,” he added.
