The man seen in a viral video threatening the life of Prime Minister Andrew Holness and residents of Clarendon is alleged to have a history of mental illness.
He’s been identified as 21-year-old Garfield Ross of Bloomfield Street in Mandeville.
The Manchester Proactive Investigation Unit reports that between 6 and 7 AM on Thursday, August 15, a targeted raid was conducted at his premises.
Ross reportedly tried to elude the police and injured himself.
He was taken to hospital, where he was treated and released into police custody.
Ross’s threatening rhetoric in this week’s viral video is not the first time he’s come to the attention of law enforcement.
In a video posted to the popular social media site TikTok, he can be seen wearing a pink balaclava, hurling insults and threats at the Prime Minister, his wife and residents of Clarendon.
The video circulated in the aftermath of the Cherry Tree Lane massacre, which claimed eight lives and nine others injured.
The video was posted to an account bearing the username akeemblake79.
On Wednesday, Acting Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey indicated law enforcement was aware who was behind the account.
Nationwide sources are now revealing that Ross may have had a history of mental illness and threatening behaviour.
It’s understood Ross has frequently threatened the mental health staff at a medical facility in Manchester.
Our sources say on at least one occasion, Ross issued a public threat to murder school children.
This led to widespread public panic across sections of Manchester ahead of the start of the new school year.
It’s understood medical personnel have repeatedly raised concern that the man is a danger to himself and to others.
At least one doctor had a run-in with him where he was said to be armed with a dangerous weapon.
Sources say relatives are allegedly not ensuring the man visits the medical facility often enough for his prescribed treatment.
When our news team reached out to the police for a comment on the record, they declined; noting that charges had yet to be laid.
Medical staff also declined to comment on the matter.
