Executive Summary
This education needs assessment was a joint effort by the Cameroon education Partners with the technical and financial support of the Cameroon Education Cluster, UNICEF, UNESCO, PLAN INTERNATIONAL, STREETCHILD, NORWEGIAN REFUGEE COUNCIL, PAID-WA and partners of the Cameroon Education Cluster. This Joint Education Needs assessment (JENA) had as aim to collect updated information about children and adolescent in and out of school to make relevant strategies and plans as well as an adequate advocacy for the consideration of the education among the priority sectors for humanitarian interventions in the conflict affected Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon. The JENA adopted quantitative and qualitative approaches to data collection. Quantitative method comprised of a survey through kobo aided questionnaires that targeted Sampled heads of households; a sample of students and schools’ authorities paying attention to representation of girls and boys, women, and men.
While the Qualitative data collection method used were Key informant interview (KII) guides, focus group discussion guides, and observation guides to have an in-depth discussion of thematic areas/factors. The assessment used purposive, convenient and snowball sampling to select households, student’s respondents, schools, school authorities and focus group discussion participants. Collection and analysis of data was done based on the five domains and thematic areas, prescribed in the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Minimum Standards and study objectives.
