The Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF, High Command has condemned the brazen attack on its members this morning in downtown Kingston.
In a statement on Tuesday, the High Command says the violent act represents a direct assault not only on the members of the Constabulary but on the State itself.
The incident started on Orange Street, but continued with a car chase across sections of the city, finally ending at the intersection of Charles and King streets, near Kingston Public Hospital when the gunmen crashed.
Head of the Kingston Central Police division, Superintendent Beresford Williams says a team was in the area in response to reports of gunfire.
He says upon arriving at the scene, around 1:30 am, they were met with shots fired from a vehicle

It says their decisive actions during the incident led to the seizure of five firearms, including two high-powered assault rifles, a significant move in keeping the country safe.
