The Windward Islands Volcanoes completed a crushing 9 wicket win over the Jamaica Scorpions inside three days in their West Indies Championship encounter at Sabina Park, this afternoon.
The Volcanoes who were winning their fifth straight game coming over from last season, were set 53 to win late on day three and easily raced to 55 for 1 with Jeremy Solozano 29 and Jeremiah Louis 22 seeing them home.
The Scorpions resumed day three on 74 for 4 and a deficit of 106, but they batted into the post lunch session before being dismissed for 234, a lead of 52.
Romain Morris top scored with 68, Nkrumah Bonner 45 and Gordon Bryan 31 against Darius Martin 4 for 85 and two wickets each to Shamar Springer and Kenneth Dember .
The Scorpions will next be in action against the Barbados Pride starting next Wednesday also at Sabina Park.
Meanwhile, the Pride are still in control of their game against the Combined Campuses and Colleges at Chedwin Park.
The CCC forced to follow-on were 92 for 2, still 67 runs behind with Shamarh Brooks not out 41 the top scorer so far.
CCC were dismissed for a 185 in their first innings responding to 344 for 8 declared by the Pride.
Over at Conaree in St. Kitts there was no play for a second straight day between the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and the West Indies Academy due to rain.
The Red Force were scheduled to resume on their first day score of 215 for 4 against champions Guyana Harpy Eagles who are yet to bat.
While At Warner Park, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes batting a second time closed on 124 for 4 an overall lead of 84 against the West Indies Academy.
Mikyle Louis 55 and Kofi James 35 are so far the leading scorers for the Hurricanes
Earlier, the Academy players gained a 40 run lead after they were dismissed for 177 in response to the Hurricane’s first innings 137.
Jeremiah Louis took 5 for 29 and Javier Spencer 3 for 43….Joshua Bishop 48 and Mbeki Joseph 42 were the leading scorers for the Academy.
