This could be Jamaica’s last chance to secure a spot in the men’s 4x400m at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
The six man squad is made up largely of athletes who were in action this past weekend for their respective teams at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Championships in Eugene Oregon.
Kimar Farquharson who ran on the winning Texas A&M team is joined by Raheem Hayles and Jevaughn Powell who helped Florida Gators to third in the final in Eugene.
Tarees Rhoden who ran for Clemson University, Shevioe Reid and Malik James King complete the squad.
14 of the 16 Olympic spots have already been taken with France 2:58.45 and Zambia 2:59.12 holding onto the next best times of countries who are yet secured their places in the qualifying period December 31, 2022 to June 30, 2024.
Jamaica has the third best time of 2:59.34 seconds done at last year’s World Championships in Budapest and must surpass France and Zambia’s time to qualify.
The team to the Bahamas will be accompanied by four officials, Brian Smith Manager, Mark Elliott Head Coach, Lamar Richards coach and Massage Therapist Oral Thompson.
