During its three-day biannual meeting, the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) based in Miami will review the results of its high-level missions carried out during the first months of the year as well as the situation in Haiti and recommendations will be some of the central themes of the organization’s biannual virtual meeting this Wednesday, April 17
IAPA will address the issue of disinformation, the new digital environment, and the coverage of corruption. The day will end with the theme “Stigmatization, political conflicts and judicial harassment”.
Thursday April 18, IAPA will analyze alliances between generative artificial intelligence (AI) developers and media companies. Questions such as “Lessons, benefits and challenges regarding the Online News Act in Canada” and “Contrast in the attitude of Google and Meta” will also be discussed.
Friday April 19, the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) will be presented, how the implementation of the provenance standard for a news site is evolving, as well as the impact and learnings from the Enhanced Fundamentals Lab (EFL). The presentation “Something more than AI, transparency, opacity of algorithms, copyright and dominance” will serve to update the Salta Declaration. A third block will address the presentation “Responsible for moderation, disinformation and the illicit”.
