Friday April 5, 2024, one of the two planes of the NGO Agape Flights (based in Venice, Florida) suffered a breakdown, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing at a small airport in Haiti.
Neither pilot on board was injured, according to a statement from Tim Kenny, the organization’s director of donor relations and development. The damage suffered by the plane was not yet known.
No passengers were on board the plane, although it was scheduled to pick up several missionaries in Haiti on Friday before returning to Florida.
“We thank God that our pilots are fine and no one on the ground was injured,” said Allen Speer, CEO of Agape Flights, in a statement.
More recently, since armed clashes banned all flights from Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Agape Flights’ aircraft has also been used to evacuate missionaries and their families from Haiti.
