Another past Chairman of the board at St. James High School is criticizing Principal Joseph Williams amid reports that the school has expelled students without due process.
Prominent Montego Bay businessman Howard Ward has described Williams’ administration as a dictatorship and has nicknamed Williams the ‘Teflon Principal’.
Mahiri Stewart reports.
Like his colleague ex-chairmen who spoke to Nationwide News, Howard Ward does not have good things to say about Joseph Williams in his capacity as principal of St. James High.
Ward, who served as chairman from 2013–2015, detailed a laundry list of irregularities under Williams’ leadership, including misappropriation of funds, poor administration, and a history of bullying and intimidation of staff, students and board members.
He referenced a 2014 audit by the Ministry of Education, which painted a picture of poor leadership and bad management at the school.
Mr. Ward accused the government of loading the board with representatives sympathetic to the principal.
According to Mr. Ward, the students are the ones suffering amid the problems plaguing St. James High.
Joseph Williams has been principal of St James High since 2006.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ward believes that the recent expulsion of students from St. James High School without due process, circumvents the established procedures.

When contacted on Friday, Principal Joseph Williams was unable to speak with Nationwide News, as he was at the school’s sports day.
