PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell is dismissing the claim made by Craig Oates that hypocrisy was at play in the rejection of his application to serve as the party’s caretaker in Eastern Hanover.
Oates has rejected the PNP’s use of poll findings as the basis for their decision, noting that no poll was used to justify the move to install Dr. Campbell as caretaker in Eastern Westmoreland.
Nationwide News has obtained a leaked voice note where Dr. Campbell responded to Mr. Oates’ claims.
Robian Williams reports.
Dr. Campbell says when the candidate application process was opened in January, only two people applied.
Craig Oates and David Tulloch.
According to Dr. Campbell, Tulloch pulled out following threats he was receiving at the time.
Which left Oates as the sole aspirant.
Dr. Campbell says the decision to reject Oates’ application had to do with more than just poll numbers.
Oates was reportedly placed on a three-month programme of work in July to prove himself.
Dr. Campbell says he was informed that Oates spent only one week in the constituency, after which he left the country for two months.
He says upon his return, Oates made several complaints.
Dr. Campbell says he recommended that Oates be given another three months.
That recommendation was rejected by executives of the party.
