A character witness for murder accused, Dewayne Pink, described him as a kind and caring person.
Pink is one of four men charged with the murder and conspiracy to murder of businesswoman, Simone Campbell Collymore and her taxi driver, Winston Walters.
The pair was shot and killed on Stanley Terrace in Red Hills, St. Andrew on January 2, 2018.
Robian Williams reports.
Dewayne Pink is charged with murder and conspiracy to murder.
On Friday in the Supreme Court, a character witness testified that to her knowledge Pink is the opposite of a murderer.
The witness said Pink would visit his grandmother for the holidays in the community where she resides. She conceded that she does not know any of Pink’s friends.
She testified that upon hearing the news of Pink’s alleged association with the murders of Simone Campbell Collymore and her taxi driver, Winston Walters, she was shocked and devastated.
The witness said she didn’t know Pink to be the type of person who would commit such a crime. She said she knew Pink as a kind man.
In an unsworn statement from the dock, Pink declared his innocence.
He said that he had no involvement in the double murder.
Pink is jointly charged with Simone’s husband, Omar Collymore, who’s accused of orchestrating the killing, and two others, Michael Adams and Shaquilla Edwards.
The court will hear closing arguments when the trial resumes on Monday morning at 10.
