President of the St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce, Dennis Robotham, says normalcy is slowly being restored in the Spanish Town area following the fatal shooting of Sheldon Walters, a leader of the Klansman gang, last Friday.
Mahiri Stewart has that report.
Sheldon Walters, otherwise known as ‘Termite’, a reputed leader of the notorious Spanish Town-based Klansman gang was shot and killed by police last Friday evening.
He was reputedly a top lieutenant of convicted leader of One Don faction of the Klansman gang, Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan. Presumed supporters of Walters mounted roadblocks using old iron and wooden debris in protest of his killing by the police.
A 48-hour curfew is still in effect in sections of the St. Catherine North Division as a result of the incidents.
Mr Rotham says multiple businesses were affected by the weekend’s shooting.
However, Mr. Robotham says upon his tour of the area, things are getting back to normal.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that several schools across the old capital will stay physically closed on Monday, and instead offer classes online.
However, Mr. Robotham believes based on information from the police, there is no need to cancel classes.
