Antiguan Prime Minister Gaston Browne says a failure to act on the climate crisis could dictate the future of Small Island Developing States, SIDS.
Prime Minister Browne is President of the SIDS4 Conference being held in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27 to 30.
Mr. Browne used the occasion to call on developed countries who are the major contributors to climate change, to do right by island nations.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says it’s high time for fossil fuel-producing companies to be held accountable.
He says the major contributors to the climate crisis have consistently failed to meet their obligations to mitigate its impacts.
Prime Minister Browne says this has caused significant harm to SIDS and the planet in general.
He charged that oil-producing companies in particular, have prioritised profits over environmental sustainability.
The Antiguan Prime Minister and SIDS 4 President is also calling on the financial support from the global north which has committed to 100 billion dollars in climate financing to countries at the forefront of the crisis.
The SIDS4 conference is being is held under the theme “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity”.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Browne says he will be launching a debt service support initiative.
