INDIANAPOLIS — Angola High School senior Mackenzee Wombacher will receive a Bobby & Kathy Cox Post-Secondary Scholarship courtesy of the Indiana High School Athletic Association and the IHSAA Foundation.
The Bobby & Kathy Cox Post-Secondary Scholarship was created to shine a light on senior student-athletes in the state of Indiana who will be the first in their families to attend a post-secondary education institution, while also showing outstanding teamwork, leadership and good character throughout high school.
Bobby and Kathy Cox were long time administrators in Indiana with 74 combined years as educators and supporters of education-based athletics. Bobby Cox retired as commissioner of the IHSAA in 2020.
Two recipients from each of the IHSAA three districts were selected to receive, the Cox scholarship, a one-time $1,500 scholarship for post-secondary educational expenses.
Wombacher participated in track and field and volleyball at AHS. She is president of Angola’s Art Club, captain of the English Academic Team, and vice president of the Y-Club. She is also a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and Girl Scouts of America.
Wombacher is undecided on her college choice, but will begin her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in the fall.
