Health and wellness minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says 436 of of the more than 6,000 students who applied for the Dr. Barrington Wint Memorial Scholarship have completed the process.
Dr. Tufton says their applications are now being reviewed.
The scholarship was introduced by the government in May this year. It was established to provide financial help to students enrolled in or accepted to a tertiary institution to pursue an academic programme focusing on health.
Dr. Tufton says the rules around the bonding agreement and qualification for the scholarship are set based on policies in the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, Minister Tufton is urging the remaining students who are yet to complete their applications to do so before the October 18 deadline.
He addressed the concern raised recently about the number of guarantors needed to secure the scholarship.
He says the ministry is facilitating some flexibility with the number of guarantors required.
