Mayor of Mandeville, Donovan Mitchell, is demanding answers from the Manchester Police on the reasoning behind their implementation of nighttime curfews in the parish.
Mayor Mitchell was addressing Thursday’s sitting of the Manchester Municipal Corporation.
He says the measure is affecting commercial activities in the parish.
Mayor Mitchell was referring to the fatal gun attack at the Mandeville market on October 4.
Two people were killed. At least five others were injured.
In a move to prevent reprisals attacks, the police have imposed 48-hour curfews in several communities in the Porus and Mandeville areas.
According to the JCF’s crime report, 42 people have been killed in Manchester since the start of the year.
That’s 12 more murders than the 30 recorded in the corresponding period last year.
But Mayor Mitchell says the economic loss being faced by business operators in the parish should be considered by the police.

Meanwhile, Councillor for the Craighead Division, Omar Miller, says some entertainment events in Manchester are being funded by lottery scammers.
But Mayor Mitchell told Councillor Miller to sit down because there’s nothing wrong with unexplained wealth.
