Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, has hit back at critics who argue that the ordinary man is not feeling the benefits of the country’s macro-economic successes.
He was referring to arguments that while the financial state of the country is commendable, people cannot eat the achievements.
Speaking at the grand opening of Courts’ Drax Hall location in St Ann on Thursday, the Prime Minister asserted that “good economic management can nyam.”
Shaloy Smikle reports.
The Holness administration has touted its macro-economic milestones as a main driver in the development of the country.
But despite these achievements, many Jamaicans argue that there is a disconnect between the economic gains and their immediate needs.
In an attempt to discredit the argument, Prime Minister Holness says those needs cannot be accomplished without a strong economy.
The Prime Minister sought to explain that it is through foreign investments and partnerships that the country’s unemployment rate is at a record low, putting more income in the pockets of ordinary Jamaicans.
The Prime Minister says the gains from macroeconomic successes are being reinvested in Jamaicans.
He made mention of the Reverse Income Tax Credit as a prime example.
