Former Reggae Boy and Manning Cup standout, Jorginho James, is back before the courts in the United States on domestic abuse charges.
The 30-year-old former Kingston College and Wolmer’s standout has been charged with assault causing bodily injury of a family member and violation of bond conditions.
James is accused of beating his wife Crystal, while at their daughter’s daycare in Friendwood, Texas. A video of the alleged incident has gone viral on social media.
In the video, a man alleged to be James can be seen entering the daycare with his daughter in hand. After a brief exchange with the women alleged to be his wife Crystal, who was on her phone, James started to reign down blows.
Most of the action appears slightly off-screen, but the pair’s screaming daughter witnessed the entire ordeal. The child was then seen chasing after the man as he attempted to leave the daycare.
The viral incident reportedly occurred on August 30.
In audio commentary accompanying the silent surveillance footage a female says the wife suffered a concussion, in addition to broken bones and swelling to the face.
The commentator is believed to be Crystal James, who asked for help in the domestic situation.
This is the second domestic incident involving James, who was jailed earlier this year for allegedly strangling his wife with a belt. James was charged in March 2024 for assaulting a family member. The case is presently in the Harris County District Court in Houston.
The video claims James was released from lock-up shortly before the second incident. Authorities in Texas have confirmed that James will be heading to court in October to answer to assault charges.
Jorginho James made his debut for Jamaica as a schoolboy in 2012. He has two Reggae Boyz caps. James went on to represent Harbour View locally before short stints at several clubs across the world.
He also represented the Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer. He reportedly currently works as a coach at a football academy.
