Prime Minister Andrew Holness has warned those contributing to the Hurricane Beryl relief efforts against rushing the process, and not doing it properly.
While acknowledging the urgency of the situation in several parishes, Mr. Holness says the recovery process must be sustainable.
He made the observation while speaking at the launch of the Building Jamaica Better Fund at the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday.
The Building Jamaica Better Fund was launched on Monday in partnership with the NCB Foundation.
The fund will allow for contributions to be made towards the Hurricane Beryl relief effort. The NCB Foundation will match donations made through the fund up to a limit of $150million.
Prime Minister Holness says without careful planning and coordination, a rushed recovery effort could result in some communities being left behind.
The parliamentary Opposition has urged the government to fast track relief efforts to ensure affected Jamaicans begin to benefit.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister provided details of how citizens can make contributions to the Building Jamaica Better Fund.
A new website has been launched to receive donations.
