Perfect timing. Less than three weeks before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games, the World Anti-Doping Agency is sorting out its bad students. It announces that it has removed, with immediate effect, the National Olympic Committee of Angola from the list of non-compliant signatories to the world anti-doping code. WADA had placed it on its blacklist at the end of January 2024, for not having implemented the 2021 version of the code in its national legal system. But the Montreal-based agency explains that it received confirmation on June 19 of the entry into force of the amendments which were to be made to Angolan legislation. The national Olympic committee is therefore reinstated. The Angolan delegation will be able to travel under the country’s colors to the Paris 2024 Games. At the last count, only two names still appear on WADA’s non-compliance table: the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), a regular, and the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding.
