With the Group phase of the 2024 Cosafa Cup now completed, both Angola and Namibia booked their spot in the tournament’s last four following their respective victories on Wednesday afternoon.
Over at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Angola bagged a hard-fought 3-1 win against Lesotho in their final Group C encounter.
While Lehlohonolo Fothoane gave Lesotho the lead in the 26th minute, Depu levelled matters for his nation moments before half-time. As Angola gathered momentum in the second 45, goals by Victor Nanque and Miro ensured that the Black Sable Antelopes secured top spot in Group C.
Elsewhere, Namibia added their names to the list of semi-final fixtures this week, following a convincing win against Seychelles at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium.
A brace by Bethuel Muzeu, coupled with Erastus Kalula’s solitary strike in the second-half was enough for the Brave Warriors to bag maximum points on the day and in turn, solidify their spot as the best second-placed team in the tournament.
Comoros will now take on Angola in the first semi-final fixture on Friday afternoon (Kick-off is at 3:00pm), with Mozambique and Namibia set to do battle thereafter (Kick-off is at 6:00pm).
Both fixtures are scheduled to take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
