Meanwhile, the ministry advised this morning that all health centres have been closed for the day.
It says staff of these facilities are to check with their parish Emergency Operations Centres to find out whether they are to be deployed elsewhere.
The ministry says persons with chronic diseases and those requiring immunisations, antenatal care and/or other services are to contact their health centre as soon as services are restored to set new appointments.
The cancer treatment centres at Cornwall Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital are also closed today.
However, all public hospitals remain open for emergency cases and deliveries.
The ministry says every effort is being made to restore services in the shortest possible time.
