Big-hitting batter Rinku Singh and pacer Khaleel Ahmed have departed Barbados for Zimbabwe ahead of the five-match T20I series in the African nation that starts from 6 July. Both Rinku and Khaleel were part of the travelling reserves with Team India during the recently-concluded T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA, and according to _News18 CricketNex_t, the duo boarded a commercial flight to Harare, where they will link-up with the rest of the Indian squad soon. A majority of the India players have landed in Harare ahead of the series.
The rest of the T20 World Cup-winning squad will travel to Delhi from Barbados, with their departure from the Caribbean country
being delayed by three days
due to Hurricane Beryl.

“Yes, both Khaleel and Rinku have left for Zimbabwe as they were named in the squad for the first two games. Rest will travel to Delhi first,” a source close to the development, was quoted as saying by News18 CricketNext.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson, who were part of the T20 World Cup squad that won the trophy, were also named in the initial squad for the Zimbabwe series. They have, however, been
replaced by
Harshit Rana, Jitesh Sharma and Sai Sudharshan for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe.
While the BCCI have not clarified as to why Jaiswal, Samson and Dube were travelling back to Delhi and Rinku and Khaleel going to Zimbabwe, the News18 CricketNext report adds that the World Cup-winning squad are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on arriving in New Delhi.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has named Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe,” a BCCI release stated.
“Originally slated to join the Zimbabwe-bound squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series starting Saturday, 6th July, the trio will travel to India first with the rest of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad before departing for Harare,” the release added.
India had beaten South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on Saturday, with Virat Kohli being named Player of the Match for his knock of 76. Jasprit Bumrah (15 wickets) was the Player of the Tournament.
The five-match T20I series between Zimbabwe and India will get underway in Harare on 6 July with the first T20I. The other four T20Is will be played on 7 July, 10 July, 13 July and 14 July respectively.
