July 01, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion have completed the signing of Gambian winger, Yankuba Minteh, from Newcastle United, for a reported £30 million. The 19-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the Seagulls, marking a significant addition to their squad ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
Minteh arrives at the Amex Stadium following an impressive loan spell with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie. During his time in the Netherlands, the young talent made 37 appearances across all competitions, contributing 10 goals in league play as Feyenoord finished in second place.
Brighton’s Technical Director David Weir expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating: “Yankuba is a young talent who has attracted a lot of interest and we’re delighted to welcome him to the club.” The move represents another shrewd piece of business for Brighton, who have developed a reputation for identifying and nurturing promising young players.

The Gambian international’s journey to the English Premier League has been swift. After joining Danish side Odense BK in 2022, Minteh caught the eye of Newcastle United, who signed him in 2023 before immediately loaning him to Feyenoord for further development. His performances in the Netherlands have now earned him a permanent move to one of England’s most progressive clubs.
With seven international caps and three goals for Gambia already under his belt, Minteh arrives at Brighton with a blend of potential and proven ability. As the Seagulls continue to establish themselves as a force in English football, the addition of Minteh signals their intent to compete at the highest level in the coming seasons.
