West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bat first against Uganda in a Group C match of the T20 World Cup at the Guyana National Stadium on Saturday.
Forced to work a lot harder than they would have expected to get past Papua New Guinea in their opening match at the same venue almost a week earlier, the two-time former champions are unchanged and anticipating a much better showing ahead of tougher matches against New Zealand in Trinidad and Afghanistan in St Lucia.
On the back of an historic low-scoring triumph over PNG – their first win in their global tournament debut – which came after a hammering from the Afghans, Uganda have also retained the same 11 as they face opponents who have been the inspiration for most of their own emerging talents.
Teams: West Indies – Rovman Powell (captain), Brandon King, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran (wicketkeeper), Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Andre Russell, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie.
Uganda: Brian Masaba (captain), Roger Mukasa, Simon Ssesazi (wicketkeeper), Robinson Obuya, Riazat Ali Shah, Alpesh Ramjani, Dinesh Nakrani, Juma Miyagi, Kenneth Waiswa, Cosmas Kyewuta, Frank Nsubuga.
