The footage was altered using artificial intelligence (AI).
This Facebook video purporting to show an NTV Uganda presenter promoting an app that makes people millionaires is ALTERED.
In the video that has the NTV branding, Chris Higenyi, the Morning at NTV programme presenter, says thousands of Ugandans are using the app to make money from their homes.
The purported advert shows individuals testifying that they downloaded the app and benefited from it. At the end of the footage, the host encourages people to download the app.
But, did the NTV publish this content?
PesaCheck used keyframes of the video to perform a Google reverse image search. However, the results did not yield any similar videos. A keyword search led to the original video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the NTV. The original video addresses good workplace practices, and not a cash app.
For further verification, we ran the video through a deep fake detector and found a 97.8 per cent likelihood that it was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
