The ex-boyfriend of 16-year-old Akita Dennis, who was being sought by the police in connection with her murder has been arrested.
The man Jerome McNeil, who is in his early thirties was listed as a person of interest following Akita’s murder in Little London, Westmoreland.

Akita was shot and killed while sitting on her veranda with another partner when her former boyfriend allegedly entered the property and opened fire. The shooting happened sometime after midnight on Saturday.
Akita was shot and killed on the scene, while her current partner sustained injuries and was treated at hospital. Her current partner is also in his thirties.
Commanding Officer for the Area One Police, Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers says Akita’s ex-boyfriend has been on the police’s radar and is a known lottery scammer.
ACP Chambers says through arrangements with his attorney, McNeil was brought into custody.
Meanwhile, ACP Chambers says the police have information to suggest that Akita’s current partner is also involved in criminal activity.
Meanwhile, ACP Chambers says Akita was a troubled teen who benefited from state intervention.
