It seems Patrick Mahomes wasn’t thrilled with this angle from the Chiefs’ AFC Championship celebrations.
The Chiefs quarterback took center stage in a new video from “Inside the NFL” that captured the team’s locker room scene following its 17-10 win over the Ravens on Sunday, which featured a shirtless Mahomes hyping up teammates after clinching a Super Bowl berth.
As the video circulated on social media, the internet — being the internet — zeroed in on Mahomes channeling his inner Jason Kelce, with the quarterback himself even joking about his physique.
“Yoooo why they have to do me like that!?!?!?” Mahomes wrote Wednesday on X, along with the hashtag “DadBodSZN.”
He added in a follow-up message, “Like i got kids!!!! @Chiefs @insidetheNFL @NFL.”
Mahomes went 30-for-39 for 241 yards, one touchdown and zero turnovers against the Ravens en route to a second consecutive AFC Championship win.
The Chiefs, coming off a rollercoaster regular season at 11-6, faced the Bills and Ravens on the road, respectively, and had been considered underdogs.
Now, Mahomes and company are making their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons.
“You don’t take it for granted,” Mahomes, 28, said postgame Sunday. “You never know many you are going to get to, or if you are going to get to any. It really is special, but the job’s not done. Our job now is to … try to get that ring.”
Mahomes is seeking his third Super Bowl title with the Chiefs.
He won his first championship in Feb. 2020 after topping the 49ers, whom he’ll face again in Super Bowl 2024.
Kansas City defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl 2023 last February.
The Chiefs and 49ers will kick off from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
