Prime Minister Andrew Holness says his administration will continue making the necessary investments in human capital and security in order to expand the country’s economic performance for 2024.
As part of his New Year’s message, the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s strong economic performance in 2023.
He notes that the positive trajectory must be maintained in 2024 and beyond.

Ten consecutive quarters of positive economic growth since the pandemic, low unemployment rate of 4-point-5 per cent, an increase in export earnings for the fist quarter of 2023 and a projected debt to GDP ratio of approximately seventy-four per cent by the end of this fiscal year, are among the achievements highlighted by Prime Minister Holness.
He says for 2024 the focus will be on increasing productivity.
Prime Minister Holness says he’s conscious of the historic injustices and inequalities of the society.
He adds that the benefits of the growing economy will reach the people in a fair and just way.
Meanwhile, PM Holness says the tourism industry has been a star performer of 2023.
He says for 2024 a national policy will be launched to build homes for tourism workers in partnership with the hotels.
