Whoopi Goldberg received a shocking DNA revelation.
Henry Louis Gates, Jr., the host of the genealogy show “Finding Your Roots” on PBS, stopped by “The View” on Tuesday and gave the 68-year-old Goldberg some news about her heritage.
Goldberg had actually appeared on the series — when it was called “African American Lives” more than 15 years ago, but Gates revealed that “new sophisticated tests” found that Goldberg was related to a former football star.
“You all know about DNA cousins? You have a DNA cousin, dear… Tony Gonzalez is your DNA cousin,” Gates said.
Goldberg was at a loss for words, mustering the question, “That’s my cousin?”
Gates did not elaborate in the segment on precisely how close of cousins Goldberg and Gonzalez, 47, are.
Gonzalez was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019 after a 17-year career with the Chiefs and Falcons in which he caught 111 touchdowns and had more than 15,000 receiving yards.
He was a 14-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro.
A rep for Gonzalez told The Post that the former tight end is not available for comment at this time.
He is currently an NFL studio analyst for “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon’s Prime Video.
On “The View” on Tuesday, Gates recalled his discovery that in 1873, Goldberg’s ancestors were the recipients of more than 100 acres of land in Florida as a result of an application following the Homestead Act of 1862.
He noted that Goldberg’s family had been among the fortunate 10 percent group of African Americans whose land claims were approved by the government.
It’s been a busy week for Gates with the discoveries of entertainers who are related to athletes, as he also appeared on “The Today Show” and told star recording artist Ciara that she is related to Derek Jeter.
