Opposition Leader, Mark Golding reported assets and liabilities last year valued at over 233 million Jamaican dollars for himself and his immediate family.
That’s according to his statutory declarations for 2022, certified by the Integrity Commission.
The declarations were posted to the Jamaica Gazette on October 3.
Chevon Campbell has been going through the document and brings us this report.
According to the Integrity Commission’s filing, Mr. Golding, his spouse and children, brought in just over 70 million dollars in total income for the period.
This includes salaries of more than 10 million dollars.
His realty income which makes up the bulk for the period stands at over 56 million dollars.
This is joined by just over 2 million in securities and 2.4 million in other income.
His Jamaican dollar assets came up to a total of just over 163 million dollars.
The majority of his assets are tied up in securities of more than 109 million dollars.
This is followed by 25 million dollars in investments, 10 million in automobiles, 7.5 million in receivables and a 5.7 million dollar life insurance policy.
Under liabilities, the Opposition Leader and his family have other accounts payable for a total of just over 1.6 million dollars.
In Foreign exchange assets, Mr. Golding reported income of 444,000 US Dollars and Total assets of just over 1 million US Dollars with 613 US dollars in liabilities.
He also has 700 Euros in securities and 1700 British pounds.
In a note attached to the filing, the Integrity Commission certified that the declaration was examined and appears to be duly completed.
It was signed by Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Retired Justice Seymour Panton, dated September 29, 2023.
The commission annually publishes in the Jamaica Gazette a summary of the declarations filed by both the prime minister and the leader of the opposition.
But for a second straight year, a summary of Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ declaration has not been published.
Neither Mr. Holness nor the Commission have provided an explanation.
