The Ministry of Health and Wellness is investigating six deaths that may have been caused by dengue fever.
Dr. Naydene Williams, who’s covering the desk of the Chief Medical Officer, gave an update on the situation regarding the dengue fever outbreak, during the post-cabinet press briefing on Wednesday morning.

Dr. Williams told journalists that to date, there’ve been 565 confirmed cases of dengue fever on the island. She says children between five and 14 years old account for the largest number of cases.
Dr. Williams says to date there’ve been no confirmed deaths from dengue fever.
Dr. Williams is warning persons suffering from dengue to stay away from popular painkillers like aspirin.
She says dengue fever is a fatal disease and is urging persons with severe symptoms to seek immediate medical attention.
Meanwhile, Dr. Williams says the Ministry of Health and Wellness has extended its vector-control programme to cover several high-risk areas across the island.
