The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, says they’re also probing two fatal shootings in Westmoreland and St. Catherine.
INDECOM says a man was shot and killed by the Police in Westmoreland Wednesday morning.
It’s reported that officers were on a targeted operation in the community of Sterling District in Grange Hill, Westmoreland searching for prohibited weapons.
During the operation, a man reportedly shot at the police, who then returned fire.
The 29-year-old male, Pete Bowen, was identified as the deceased in this incident.
A firearm was reported as recovered from the scene.
The other shooting incident occurred on Tuesday, in the community of Waterford in St. Catherine.
It resulted in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old, Kevaughn Bhalai and the recovery of a Smith and Wesson revolver with serial number.
The police reported that upon entering a house, based on information received, a man who was seen in a room, pointed a firearm in their direction and in return they fired at the man.
Meanwhile, INDECOM says it was not informed of a body worn camera being issued, assigned to or used, in any of the incidents.
The Commission is appealing to any person who witnessed any of the the shooting incidents, to contact the office of the Commission at 876-968-1932.
INDECOM says since January, 50 people have been shot and killed by the security forces, of which six occurred in May.
